Aware But Silent

Picture
Aware But Silent
36" x 24"
Acrylic on canvas
This painting is a representation of people's silence. While we may be aware or knowledgable on things we tend to stay silent about subjects that are hard to talk about. Each of the five mouth gags represent different subjects that many people find difficult to talk about, corresponding with different awareness ribbons.

Untitled (Suicide Portraits 3)
16" x 20"
Acrylic on canvas
This is a series of paintings representing the various aspects of suicide. Each portrait is wearing a mask to represent the anonymity and sometimes facelessness of victims of suicide. We as a society tend not to want to talk about suicide, but when we do, victims of suicide tend to just become part of the statistics. Behind the masks are actual people and we tend to forget that, and this is my way of trying to bring attention to this, and start the conversation in a way that brings attention to the struggles of real people.

If you or someone you know are thinking about suicide please reach out and ask for help.
The national suicide hotline is always available, free and confidential. Call 1-800-273-8255, or visit
